Harrisburg Inspiring Connections Outdoors (Harrisburg ICO) was formed in 1996 by a group of five Sierra Club Pennsylvania Chapter's Governor Pinchot Group members who wanted to share their love of nature and the outdoors with youth. For more than twenty-one years, Harrisburg ICO leaders have enabled hundreds of urban youth to experience the beauty and wildness of Pennsylvania.

Whether hiking the Appalachian Trail, bird-watching at Hawk Mountain and Middle Creek, kayaking the Susquehanna River, biking the Greenbelt, participating in a service project, or camping in a State Park - Harrisburg ICO's well-trained, volunteer leaders find paths to connect the lives of inner city youth to nature. They donate their time to plan and lead outings designed to educate, enrich and inspire youth with limited opportunities to experience the great outdoors.
